The Conference “Trieste Port-City: 300 years of Free Port” ‒ organized by the Venezia Giulia Chamber of Commerce ‒ will take place on 18 March 2019 in Trieste, on the occasion of the celebrations of the three-hundredth anniversary from the granting of status of Free Port to Trieste. Alberto Pasino will be one of the speakers.

The conference will be introduced by Massimiliano Fedriga (President of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region) and Antonio Paoletti (President of the Venezia Giulia Chamber of Commerce). Greetings of the institutions by Roberto Dipiazza (Mayor of Trieste), Giuseppe Tripoli (General Secretariat of Unioncamere), Sabrina Strolego (honorary Consul of Austria for Friuli Venezia Giulia), Peter Kaiser (President of the Land of Carinthia) and Edoardo Rixi (Viceminister of transport and infrastructures), and by the representative of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber and ministerial representative of the Austrian Republic.

The speeches will be opened by Alberto Pasino’s presentation on the topic “The economic advantages of the free ports yesterday today and tomorrow”, followed by the contribution by Zeno D’Agostino (President of the Port Network Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea) on “The international Free Port of Trieste in a global perspective”, while the Mayor of Trieste will discuss “Porto Vecchio, the future is now “. The last to give a presentation will be Andreas Matthä (CEO of ÖBB – Austrian Railways) on “The meaning of the Free Port of Trieste for Austria’s main mobility services provider”.

The closing remarks will be made by Graziano Pizzimenti, regional Alderman for infrastructures and territory of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region.
