The “General assembly of public transport for daily mobility” organized by the Italian Ministry of Infrastructures and Transport (MIT) within the new strategic plan for the mobility of Italy “Connettere l’Italia” (“Connecting Italy”) took place on 11th December at the Farnese Chapel of Palazzo D’Accursio (seat of the Municipality of Bologna) at the presence of the Italian Minister of Infrastructures and Transport Graziano Delrio.

The event was attended by Minister Delrio, public administrators, experts of the MIT’s new technical commission (Struttura tecnica di missione) and business and mobility operators.

Stefano Zunarelli also in his capacity as expert of the MIT’s technical commission held a presentation on “The new rules for the award of local public transport services”, outlining the regulatory framework governing awards of public transport, and the peculiarities of the regime of the awards without open tendering procedures.

During the event the most recent measures adopted by the MIT for the creation of a safe and sustainable integrated transport system aimed at improving the mobility of an ever increasing number of users especially in congested and polluted urban areas were presented and discussed by examining the ways of implementing the “Connecting Italy” plan and its future prospects.
