A business mission of small and medium-sized enterprises of the Russian Federation was held in Trieste on 3 and 4 December. The meeting was organized by the Russian Agency supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, with the collaboration of the “Navigator” Centre and the Russia Desk of the Firm.

Several Italian companies, coming not only from Friuli Venezia Giulia, but also from Lombardy, Tuscany and Abruzzo participated in the event, which ideally ended the first year of cooperation between the Firm’s Russia Desk, the “Navigator” Centre and the Government of the Russian Federation. The presence of several entrepreneurs from the neighbouring Republic of Slovenia was also significant.

During the meetings, the participating entrepreneurs had the opportunity to exchange views with their Russian counterparts and to assess possible collaborations in Italy and Russia.

The event also enjoyed the support of some local institutions. The Russian delegation, led by Dr. Dmitry Chernov (in charge of the internationalization of the Russian Agency for the development of SMEs) and Dr. Kirill Matveev (founder and director of the “Navigator” Centre), was in fact welcomed by Prof. Paolo Bevilacqua, deputy rector of the University of Trieste ‒who brought the Honorable Rector’s greetings‒ and was also welcomed by Dr. Giorgio Gerometta, Director of BIC Incubatori FVG S.p.A. at the BIC Centre.

During the mission, the officials of the Russian government publicly thanked the Firm, and Mr. Andrea Piras personally, for the contribution to the development of relations between the Russian Federation and the Italian Republic.
