Kirill Matveev, director of the Navigator Centre, and Andrea Piras, head of the Firm’s Russia Desk, met in October in the city of Vologda (capital of the homonymous Russian region) to discuss future cooperation projects aimed at supporting Italian companies interested in the Russian market and Russian companies intending to operate in Italy.

During the meeting -also fostered by local Russian authorities who hosted the Russia Desk and the Navigator Centre at the local Chamber of Commerce- Mr. Matveev and Mr. Piras determined to continue their participation in the organization of bilateral events and to intensify the out of Court advice provided to the Russian and Italian companies. One of the purposes of the meeting was to strengthen the access to the Russian market for Italian companies through the Vologda Region.

Indeed, the work carried out up to now by the Navigator Centre and by the Firm’s Russia Desk confirms that the access to the Russian market through the Vologda Region (one of the most important industrial centres of northern Russia) can be particularly convenient for Italian companies for two main reasons: (i) access costs are considerably lower than those required to access Moscow or St. Petersburg, and (ii) competition is less intense than the one the Italian and foreign entrepreneurs have to face in the two Russian capitals.

Mr. Matveev and Mr. Piras also received a delegation of Russian entrepreneurs who confirmed their interest in the opportunity of cooperating with Italian companies, and also Russian companies and consumers’ strong appreciation for made in Italy products.

The Russia Desk and the Navigator Centre were also invited to visit the production facilities of some local companies, which gave further evidence of the considerable opportunities offered by the Vologda Region and by its entrepreneurs.

In the coming months, the Navigator Centre will arrange more business missions in Italy and in Russia, with the usual assistance of the Firm’s Russia Desk that will provide out of Court advice to the Italian and Russian companies that will take part in the missions. We will keep the readers updated in the coming newsletters.
